Hanzhong | Day 2
We started the day early, making use of the hotel’s laundry facilities while grabbing breakfast at the buffet. It was a productive and convenient start, leaving us ready to explore more of Hanzhong.
Our first destination was Baijiangtan. Baijiangtan, located in the heart of Hanzhong, is an important historical site linked to the famous Han Dynasty general, Han Xin. The site commemorates a significant moment when Han Xin, one of China’s most brilliant military strategists, was appointed a general by Liu Bang, the founding emperor of the Han Dynasty. The monument at Baijiangtan symbolizes this pivotal moment in Chinese history, and visitors can find statues and inscriptions paying tribute to the event. The site’s name, “拜将坛,” translates roughly to “Platform for Appointing a General.”
Despite its historical significance, Baijiangtan is also a tranquil place to reflect, with the monument standing as a reminder of the rich history embedded in Hanzhong.
As we explored the area, a light rain began to fall, which added a solemn and atmospheric touch to the experience, making the historical site feel even more timeless.
For lunch, we stopped at a nearby restaurant, though it wasn’t particularly memorable—the dishes were overly salty, and the service was slow. With the rain picking up, we decided to return to the hotel for the afternoon, taking some time to rest and avoid the cold, wet weather.
Rained throughout the afternoon, but we took a short walk around the local area anyway to see what was within walking distance. Didn’t find much of interest to went back to the hotel.
