Hong Kong | Day 2

2 minute read

We woke up early and ventured out in search of breakfast. Just a short walk from my hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui, we found a cozy diner called Restaurant Kowloon. I went with the jumbo polo bun set, which made for a nice, light start to the day.

After breakfast, we headed straight to the Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry Pier to catch a ferry across Victoria Harbour. The ride was quick, and we docked at Central Ferry Pier in no time. From there, we walked into the heart of Central’s CBD to explore a bit.

While wandering around, we stumbled upon Don Don Donki, a quirky Japanese store filled with all kinds of interesting items. It was fun browsing through their eclectic selection.

Next, we hopped on the Central Mid-Level Escalator, making my way up towards Man Mo Temple. Although the temple is relatively small, it’s a peaceful Taoist retreat and worth a visit for its history and atmosphere.

Conveniently, there was a bus stop right outside the temple that took me most of the way to The Peak Tram Station.

The tram ride up to Victoria Peak was steep but enjoyable, and the views from the top were breathtaking. If you ever take the tram, I’d suggest sitting on the right side for the best scenery.

Once at the peak, we took in the stunning panoramic views of the city and harbour, snapping a few photos at the Lions Pavilion.

After soaking it all in, we caught a bus back down and headed towards Causeway Bay for some more exploring.

By then, it was nearing lunchtime, so we stopped by Keung Kee for a quick bite. The rice-roll pancake stood out - simple but delicious. Afterward, we hopped on the MTR back across the harbour, getting off at Jordan Station.

Since lunch had been a bit light, we dropped by Kai Kai Dessert for a sweet treat. I tried the walnut and almond congee, which turned out to be quite satisfying.

As the afternoon wore on, the heat and humidity were kicking in, so we took a break in the shade at Kowloon Park. It was the perfect spot to rest up and cool down.

Feeling recharged, we decided on an early dinner. We returned to a small rice-noodle shop we’d noticed earlier in the day - 山水清湯腩. The beef soup rice noodles hit the spot, rounding off the day’s meals nicely.

By the time we wrapped up, we had clocked around 17,000 steps. Satisfied and tired, we made our way back to the hotel to rest and call it a day.
